BOTOX® Cosmetic is a quick, simple treatment that reduces facial wrinkles and frown lines. Sierra Nevada Eye Center also offers Dysport®, another botulinum treatment similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic.
Over time, facial wrinkles develop from repeated use of the facial muscles of expression. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein that inhibits nerves from stimulating muscles. It is applied through a series of tiny injections, and the procedure takes just a few minutes in the office. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport relax the muscles under the skin, which reduces the appearance of wrinkles. The effects usually last 3 to 4 months, sometimes longer.
